I come across this while trying to play pictures in a slide show or burn pictures to a DVD. I renamed the picture in the order I would like to see them to 1, 2, 3,...200 etc. They will only be played in a slide show in the correct order with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Other softwares like Irfan view or Nero will show them in a different order, like 1, 10, 100, 2, or some wierd order. Any insight or solution to this problem from anyone?

So you have them named 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10, but they will show up as 1 10 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9? Yeah, that's a problem in Windows that I haven't had in OS X or Linux. The solution is to rename them 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 etc.

Do you know a way to rename a large group of pictures to 01, 02, 03.....etc. The way I did was by highlighting a group of files, rename the first one to (1).jpg, then the rest will automatically be (2), (3).....etc. I tried using (0001), but that did not work. I get 0001 (1), 0001 (2),...., which brought me back to square 1.

I don't know how to do it in Windows. In Linux or Mac OS X I would just write a small bash script that would do it for me.
