Question Cuting off low freqs. on speakers without a sub

Is it possible to set a cut off frequency for my speakers even though I don't have a sub? Or do the speakers automatically just not attempt to play the notes below its frequency response range? Can I set that cutoff higher if I want?

do you think you could explain what all the high pass and low pass stuff means? I'm not quite that schooled in the audio world yet, I'm learning though

edit: oh wait I just got it... high pass means everything above the said frequency will go through and low pass means only the stuff below the said frequency will go through. that was pretty self explanitory haha
