Default Converting Video Files

I found out the other day that 360 plays WMV files on data cds/dvds, and was wondering what the best converter would be for me to use. I have many file types to convert, so an all-in-one program is preferred. I tried Windows Media Encoder, which is free from Microsoft, but that failed miserably, as the program doesn't run after a file is set-up for conversion. I downloaded Digital Media Converter, and it runs smoothly and allows the user to create a conversion playlist. I converted one file and tested it on my 360, but on ever scene change, the picture blurs. Is there any way to circumvent this problem or is it just the converter I'm using? And is there any way to make the videos I convert into widescreen?

Thanks for the help.

Mesa.

How do you want to make the videos widescreen? Do you want to skew the aspect ratio or do you want to cut the top and bottom off?

When I play them from my PC to my TV, it automatically has them as widescreen, but when I burn them and watch them, it has it set at it's normal resolution... I just want to stretch it out as I do with non HD TV programming.
