| Cheepish Headphones Help. I still want some headphones, but have decided to only spend about £40 on some, Im looking for some that are better sound quality than Z5500 speakers, and are OK For playing games, and sound good for listening to Music such as Dance music. They must also go quite loud, and fit Over the ear. An dof course, as good quality sound as possible ! ! !, And they must be compatible with my SB Live soundcard.
So far ive came up with these, but only because there the right price and are Closed Back, Id like some opinions on which are the best for my needs.
Heres some i like the look of.
Sennheiser HD215
Audio Technica ATH-M30
Audio Technica ATH-PRO5V
Skullcandy Ti Black
But, if you can reccomend any others that meet my Criteria then please specify. |

| Re: Cheepish Headphones Help. Beat the sound quality then Z5500's??... it can be done.. but by any chance, are we listening to the same Z5500's lol... mine are so clear my ears bleed.. but anyway... tigerdirect has a section under headphones made for gaming.. that you can use as a reference.... if you were going to get a pair.. you might as well buy a set with a mic bulit in.. could come in handy for teamspeak or BF2....
Lol you should buy these Sennheiser HD650 Hi-FI Professional Headphones in Canada at TigerDirect.ca
Gotta love the Price. |

| Re: Cheepish Headphones Help. LOL !, Yeh there sure expensive. As for the Mic for BF2. How dare you relate me to BF2, That game sucks so much its beond beleif. I wont go into that. I dont need a mic though. My Z5500's can sound, well great, But you remember the picture i linked a few days ago of my PC in the living room with the 40" samsung, and them speakers you said were good, well my dad listens to them all the time, so i here them all the time. And they sound so much better than my Z5500's so i would never say they sound fantastic. Ahwell im sure i'll get over it.
Anyway if the Audio Technica ATH-PRO5V are OK for the occasional Pwning on CoD2 and CSS, Then i'll think i'll get them, from the reviews they seem to be excelling in a lot of departments, and the Senns HD215's say there definitley not for people who listen to music with bass in, which is Moi .
P.S. It looks like my dad has his heart set on a new amplifier for his speakers. Anyone know how good this amp is... Linn Kisto
I have never herd of Linn, i thought good amps were Rotel for Stereo music, and Denon for Surroundsound. Anyway, he's either getting that or a similar Naim one, never herd of them either .

| Re: Cheepish Headphones Help. I have the ATH-m30's... they are very good, but I would recommend going one step higher (ATH-m40fs) if you can. I have both of them and the 40's are a much better choice.
The m30's are still quite good though. As for the skull candy, I wouldn't. The Pro5v, I will have to check on later. |

Will the ATH-M30's/40's be any good for Gaming ?, and Dance music with a fair amount of bass ?

| Re: Cheepish Headphones Help. The m30's distort fairly easy, but do put out bass.
The 40's have never distorted. They handle any audible low frequencies... they are amazing. They are designed for flat response (thus the FS in the name). They handle extremely well and are excellent for gaming. I use mine for gaming, studio work, and even live monitoring.
Honestly, since I got the m40, I have barely touched the m30's. |

| Re: Cheepish Headphones Help. Honestly, yes. They are the most comfortable and best sounding headphones I have ever heard. They are more accurate than my studio monitors. They do a great job of covering up noise (they don't cancel noise, but are circumaural so they do block out quite a bit). I wear them even when i'm not listening to anything they are so comfortable and quiet.
You won't be dissappointed. If you are, I owe you my sincerest apologies. |

| Re: Cheepish Headphones Help. I forgot to mention... the m40's come with a 1/4" plug, so you wont be able to plug into the soundcard unless you buy an adapter. You must get a STEREO 1/4" to 1/8" STEREO adapter to be able to use it (unless you have a front panel with 1/4" jacks). They are only a few bucks, so dont sweat that. I have bought sets of them on ebay 10 for $3 + $1 shipping
EDIT: Like these!! eBay: TWO 3.5 mm stereo Plug to 1/4" headphone Jack adapter (item 200097857271 end time Apr-10-07 16:49:43 PDT)

| Re: Cheepish Headphones Help. Ok Thanks Crysalis, dont worry, if they dont sound good i'll be blameing myself, because i in the end chose them, and you told me they were good from your experiences, not mine, so i cant blame you.
Would this be ok .... eBay.co.uk: Gold 3.5mm to 1/4 " Stereo Headphone Microphone Adaptor (item 260104526297 end time 11-Apr-07 19:45:00 BST)
I have another question, would i be able to plug in my ATH-M40s straight into my Soundcard, whilst leaving my Z5500's plugged in ?, Im not sure how i could though . And when i put my little earphones into the soundcard they sounded alot better than plugging them into the Z5500 Control Panel, so i would like to avoid this.
This is not related but... Last night i went to the cinemas to watch Mr.Beans Holiday, it was rubbish, But, The cinemas had obviously upgraded there sound system since i last came. A) It was the most well defined and crystal clear audio i have ever herd, B) The subwoofer's must of been the size of of house, every time a car went by on the film, my Coke in my bottle Rumbled and rather large ripples appeared and almost splashed out my cup. Not only that, i swear they didnt have 5.1 or even 7.1... it was like 14.8 or sumin, I cud pick up around 14 speakers and 8 subs around the room, And they wernt playing a 5.1 signal because each one was working individualy and producing different sounds. What kind of mad system was this... It must be one heck of a Amplifier. I herd better sound from these than them £8000 speaker setups you here in Hi-Fi specialist shops, i mean it wasnt even close, it blew the socks off anything ive herd.
Just thought i'd tell you in my rather apparent state of bordom .
