Default cassette tape to mp3 or wav

I'm looking for some cheap of free software that will allow me to copy my cassette tapes onto my PC in WAV or MP3 or whatever. Any pointers please?

Do you have sound software with your computer?
It will record what you play on your computer.

You can just hook a tape player into your mic or audio in ports and use any recording software to save it to your hard drive. I did this once, I used Musicmatch Jukebox.

Thanks. Is it as simple as that?!
Since posting, I did some browsing and came upon tucows.com website. Lots of useful stuff on there and worth checking out.

Don't use the mic input, it is mono. Use the line-in jack from the line-out of your cassette player.
