Question Bit rates ect.

Ok...so after mastering the iPod and how to use it im starting to get picky with my music and how "good" the quality is. So, with that being said, to my understanding the higher the bit rate is the better its going to sound...this is right? and whats bit sample rate as well?

Hello,

The sample bit rate is the rate at which bits are sampled...oh..uh....does that make sense....bit...rate..sample....rate...bit....:conf used:  ...

Yeah...it is how frequently an analogue signal / digital signal is sampled as it is converted into digital signals. CDs are sampled at 44.1Khz, which means that 44,100 samples are taken every second, for the specific sound that is being recorder or processed.

there any way of increasing the bit rate manually after downloading or ripping?

Hello,

It wouldn't make any difference in quality. It would be the same as putting a pair of shoes in a very large box, where it could more conveniently fit and utilize space in a smaller box.

Basically, you'd be taking an audio stream with a low bit rate, and converting it to a higher bit rate, making no change.

Nope, atleast it wouldn't increase quality, only size because you use more bits for the same data.. which makes no sense

If you want higher bitrates, rip your CD's at a higher bitrate, I recommend CDex for ripping CDs, it's a very nice (and FREE) program.
