Audacity is Free.

Adobe Audition (maybe Soundbooth now, I can't remember) is expensive but a lot more indepth.

reason 4 but no wave edit in it. You must use wav as mp3 is low quality

Audacity is really nice for a free program. It can do all sorts of stuff and exports WAV and MP3 (MP3 needs LAME). It can also record from microphone and line-in ports.

Agreed. Go with Fruityloops, its worth the money.

Adobe Audition now at version 3 has looping functions but you must provide the samples yourself. Costs way more, you are paying for other things.

Ive been with FL since version 4 and it just keeps getting better and better, i can honestly say it is close to being the best sequencer, ive made several projects on it that sound like they came off a triton or motif.
