| Newb Techie | Lets pretend I have the new audigy 2 sound card..will i lose sound quality if i go through my yamaha theater reciever? using optical cables. from the PC optical out..to the recievers optical in. I dont think it would make a difference if i just went through my reciever..Basically using my CPU as a DVD/CD Player. the reason i ask is because I have like 2 grand in audio equipment, and I want to use my good speakers, instead of buying "compuer" speakers. |

| True Techie | You said it right in your first post. You will get the best quality if you run an optical cable from the PC out to the Receiver In. That way the computer will send the signal to the receiver which will decode it and send it to the speakers. If you run a standard cable from the Comp out to the Aux in on the Receiver, you will not get the high quality digital signal.
