Default any tool other than VLC for MKV files

Hi, everyone!
I have some mkv files in my HDD, and they are all playable in my VLC v0.85.

VLC is a good software for almost all multimedia, but one bad thing about it is that SRS TruBass and TruSurround are not well supported in VLC so far.

I have a Creative SB Audigy 4 and a 5.1 stereo, but when I am playing MKV files in VLC, I even can't notice any effect from the subwoofer as if the sound was straight playing out from a 2.1 speakers instead!
There is no bass at all!

So, I am looking for another MKV player rather than VLC.
Any idea?
