I'm trying to open and edit a .dat file from a game I play, I have a bad habit of exploring the games files and learning how things work =P. The problem is, when I open the .dat in notepad, all I see is a garbled message.

I'm looking for a way that I can both view this file in a .. readable format, and also edit the contents of it. What programs will I need to do so? I have vb .net and quite a few different tools including reasource editors (which ive made good use of ) but non of which have been of any help in this matter.

I would but it shows up in a bunch of squares =P which isnt much help for decodeing it lol

well crud...that outdoes my extent on it. you might be able to find some decompiliers to help you. but realize that's kinda grasping at straws

Yeh I kinda figured as much =/ Wish i had Pearl, I'd make my life a heck of alot easier for codeing + I found a useful program that might help but its made for pearl which I don't have X_X

Theres gotta be some way of doing this though, otherwise it couldnt have been made in the first place lol. Plus it's a file the game is using so it no doubt works.
