Default RAD for C++ programming

Hi there !

It's my first message on the board and it deals with RAD for C++ programming. Actually, i'm a student and i got to build a C++ program working on VisualC++. The file downloaded on the MSDN (available only for students) doesn't seem to work.
So i heard about Visual C++ Express 2005. I've downloaded the file and i am trying to get it install but i am awaiting for 7 hours and the progress bar isn't moving on ... Well, i'll be patient...
Yet, in the case it wouldn't work, is there any RAD that i can use to make my C++ project and of course for free.

Actually, I don't care of VisualC++ but the teacher stressed that our program must work with it. So do you think I can use another free RAD to make the program that keeps working with VisualC++ ?
It would be nice and help me to go on with my project.

Regards
Nas'

Thank you for you answer.
But actually, a RAD and an IDE, it's not the same thing. DevC++ is an IDE which means you can't "draw" your user interface, you have to write every line on your own.
VisualC++ is a RAD so that you can build your user interface as if you were drawing it over paintshop. For example, another famous RAD is Borland BuilderC++.

Well, in fact, I succeeded in installing VisualC++ Express edition. The issue is that I didn't know that the MFCs don't work with this edition. So it is not really useful to me...
I have to get another free RAD. Otherwise, i'll try to install VisualC++ (pro edition). Actually, I haven't tried to do it yet because it is on 2 ISO image and I don't have a burner. I could install other Microsoft products because they are on just one ISO so that I could open the file with WinRAR and then launch the setup. I don't think it's gonna work if there are 2 ISO image... Do you think I should try ?

Thanks

Use something like daemon tools mount the .ISO image when its installing it`ll just ask for cd2 then un mount the image and mount .ISO cd2.

I was not aware of the MFC its always good to learn new things so thankyou for that.

Technically, Visual Studio is an IDE that has RAD tools.

Does RAD not stand for Rapid Application Development? It's not an IDE, it's a methodology for development, based on prototyping.
