| Junior Techie | I too want to get into game dev. I suggest you learn a lot of the HTML languages like HTML, Javascript, PHP, and then eventually learn Java and C, C++, etc. Also, a friend told me that math is very important in game design. Know your math!

| True Techie | Programming with web design languages is completely different than doing object oriented programming... I really don't think that learning them would make much of a difference if someone is trying to get into game design. The basics of HTML and the basics of Java, for example, really don't have much in common. |

| Advanced PHP can be useful for learning programming it includes arrays, loops, classes and inheritance . Also if you want to make games c++ is what you want but best to learn other languages so you can understand more before jumping right into it. Also try out darkbasic good for making simple games. |

| C++ would be the most common language for writing games. Don't even think of those web languages. Best thing, especially if you don't know C++ or programming in general, pick up some books. Course Technology has some excellent programming books that are geared towards game programming.
