There's some differenece ( if you don't include the fact that you can use C#,VB,C++, or JScript) Check the tutorials at www.w3schools.org they're really good.

Yes there is a lot of difference and all for the better. The language being a part of the .net framework has all the advantages of the same and can also leverage on other .net languages like C3,VB.net, C++ etc.
The language is easy to pick up and very good to program in.
