Here is what I am looking for. I need some thing that is going to shutdown my computer after internet connection is interupted to the computer. I do not know how I would go around doing this. I do not know how to program but I think this would be some thing fun to work on.

I am thinking loud now...if I was to have a script that would send pings every hour to determine if the internet connection was alive and after lets say two hours after no ping would be possible it would send the shutdown signal. Would some thing like that work?

This wouldn't be difficult, but why would you want to do it?

Because I have a computer permanently connected to the internet and some times the internet conection fails either due to the router or the comptuer and I have to manually reset it. However, some times I am not present there for days and it would be a waste to have the computer running for no reason!
