Default LDAP queries

I need a decent resource for learning/developing LDAP queries. I've tried googling it, and really haven't came up with anything. It's basically all a bunch of products. I'm working with a Windows Server 2003 R2 setup using Active Directory. I've developed a basic query that grabs everything that is not a computer. Im wanting to weed out all groups, all mailing groups, and it has to reside on the top level. IOW, it needs to hit the entire domain. Any ideas?
