Default Java Robot-->novice

is it possible to use java like c or c++ to controll a small robot?
if it is ill learn the language but from what i've seen java seema to be graphicly inclined so to speak.
just a yes or no is good enough, but if you fell like explaning you reply a bit it would be tremendiosly healpful.

Yes absolutely, Java rocks in embedded systems. There are so many devices that use java programming in it [cell phones...].To summarize Java is a better one to use with the Robots kinda stuff..

exlent, i would be trying to base the robot off a cell. now i suppose all i have to do is learn the language.

Ha ha ..lol.. ..work on it soon , and post the robot pic in this thread when it is done

BTW, java is very wide and am afraid you have to do a lot of studying and practicing it.

Java was used as the language of choice on the Mars Robots. The article was on Sun's website somewhere. That's pretty impressive....java being used by NASA for robots

Java rocks -> except when it comes to animation... It's platform independance comes at the price of speed, as the instructions are executed on a virtual machine, which adds an intermediate layer to the process.... Currently learning C# to overcome this - didn't fancy C with too many nasty pointers.
