I am trying to research PHP, and the only books that I can get a hold of (free of cost) are books on PHP 4.

How much of a change was made from PHP 4 to PHP 5?

I have read that PHP 5 gave more features to programmers who were used to object orientated programming, but thats all that I have heard.

Can I get away with just reading the PHP 4 books?

Most Cerntainly. Most of the code is forward compatible. With the exeception of the OOP stuff.
