Default How to make use of an open source project?

Hi, I'm new here and I'm new to java programming, but I'm planning to write a questionnaire program. I began by downloading a java program of this kind from SourceForge, hoping I'll just edit it to save my labor. However, after downloading it, I have no clue how to do that. How do you do with those files? I use eclipse.

Now I've created a project but how do I point it to the source files? New->plug-in from existing JAR archives? There are many files I cannot list. Also, there are two folders- one is bin and the other src. What do they mean?

This would be my first step, I appreciate your help.

I moved this to the Programming area as this is a much better spot for it.

But to be true open source i believe you have to have the GPL license.

I agree. I thougt about the different ideas of Richard Stallman and Raymond and came to the conclusion that they are not complete without each other.

I got it. I did it in java perspective and import from a project then general > archive files. I learned it from Eclipse help...
