those guys (PCF, ID, GoD, Activision, EA etc) are very good programmers, u can't make a game like CS or CoD or Doom on your own. You need lots of people and lots of knowledge. You have to develop your own engine wich is pretty hard and u have to be good at animating.

Fair enough NX5, my response to you was harsh because I don't think it was neccessary for you to ask your question the way you did. "How the **** do they make professional games?". You did not seem sincere when you asked your question

NX5 these may provide you with useful info. It might be helpful to get some books (last link). You can mod games like quake and unreal tournament without knowing much programming. check their official websites and ask the modding groups to see if this may be something you would be interested in doing. They should have forums there to discuss game mods. Game developement is wide field that requires a lot of different talents. Some programmers work developing the game engine, others make 3D models, others animate, graphics, design concepts etc

Yes you can. But it's not as easy as it may sound. You need lots of experiance. (And I Mean Lots Of IT!) before you can try making a game. People Sponsores only pay so-many people to make a game for them, is eacause they want to make it quickley. Therefore it IS possible to make a game by yourself. Just not quickley. So don't expect to wake up one morning and say: Hmm, I want to make a videogame today. Because it just dosn't work that way. You have to know allot before you try to get into something like that...
