Default Help finding directory for JVM/SDK

I am editing existing java code using Apache Maven. I need to set Maven's JAVAHOME to the directory/location of my JVM.

I am running Gentoo w/ the KDE GUI and I do have root access. How do I find the location of the JVM/SDK?

I have tried using the command locate, but that gives me too many returns. Is there a locate specifically for directories? Is there something else that I could try?
