Ive always been facinated, and ever since the first time i picked up a 3d game ive been interested. Now i think i know enough theorey (im pretty sure i know how everything is meant to work and how all the effects are built up) i want to get started making my own 3d games.
Problem is every place i have been to get started have forgotten about the little people, the people who know practically nothing about the practical side of making a video game and they seem to start in the middle if you know what i mean.
So i need some help. Where do i start? Id doesnt even have to be a game i start making first with whatever, but i enjoy tech demos etc.
I just want a game development environment that i can get used to and will be basic and easy enough to understand at first but have all the features i will need in the future.
I already know some Basic but barely any software/engines/etc use this as their language and dark basic looks yuk. Apart from that the only other language i know is PHP. If it helps i won a copy of Torque 3D by helping on a project a year or so ago but i never got that working, because like i said they brush past the fundamentals too easily nowadays....
Tips, pointers, help. All welcome.
PS: I enjoy doing some lite 3d media creation, did this yesterday:
