What's a good way to get started?

Why your choice for Coldfusion? Have any experience with it?

What kind database would you want it to run? SQL, ASP, DMS, XML, integrated?

Nah.
No experience. I was looking for quick ways to learn, actually... because someone said they would have a job for me if I learned it. 8)

I'm not totally sure, but I can ask. I would assume SQL, but assuming doesn't get you anywhere fast. 8)

Any good resources for this stuff while I wait to find out the answer?
