C# is the way to go in my opinion. I've been at it for half a year and I've learnt to do very basic things, with one hour of reading a day. It's fairly simple and powerful. C++ is much more complicated, with more advantages. I know a friend to is expert programmer in C++, he says it takes 5 years to learn and really program efficiently with it. But once you have it down, it really really looks good on a resumé.

I heard c compiled programs runs better then c++ files or something akward then that but i am not 100% sure. But if u look around, alot of exploits hackers used are written in c and their has to be a reason =)

C# is more user friendly for basic apps and graphical stuff but it is alot more tying and less functional. If your doing windows stuff i would say C#, if its gonna be advanced or cross-platform developement use C++.

I personally recommend learn C#, to get a hold of some of the more cryptic santax, and the whole .NET thing is pretty interesting. I personally am learn C# so I can then learn C/C++.
