Best C compiler for ms server 2008?

I've heard that MS visual studio 2008 is the best C++ compiler for MS server 2008. Does it work equally well as a C compiler? And are there other good options for C compiler for this op system?

Moved to correct area.

Visual Studio works as a C and C++ compiler equally. Borland does not run on Server 2008 but GCC does.

I've heard MinGW works on MS op systems. Does it work on 2008?

I don't think you can get the real gcc for windows but mingw is a windows version of gcc.

Yes GCC is for Linux platforms only. MinGW is the one you want.
