I would say that Ruby is the easiest, at least because its command syntax is basic.

i am very glad i learned python right after html... it is an extremely easy language at the basics, but at the same time it prepares you for future languages with the simple if-then, elseif, print (or echo in php), the idea of the "hard core" syntax yet still being easy to control and understand.
