i am a windows systems admin. Im plannin on starting some programming. I dont really have any interest on moving to unix. I am just not sure what language to start with. I want something that will help automate stuff in windows, run tasks, manipulate the windows os. I am thinking perl, but not really sure. And if you have any good ideas, can you recommend a good beginner book..

i learned html from sams html in 24 hours book, seemed like a good book. not sure if the sams books are good for programming or not.

i also wanna be able to do some stuff on the network with it.... dont care about integrating it with a webpage really.... it is mainly just for system administration
