That's an odd question. Is this homework or something? Anyhow, .NET allows the development of managed applications.

.NET is sort of like an API. It is a huge library of functions which developers normally use. It is fully managed. You won't ever take down the entire OS because of your program. And its speed is reasonable too, sometimes even faster than native code!

Its a great platform for desktop or web development.
