One thing I don't get, is Opteron the class and Phenom the exact model?

| Re: Tech Forums Official SuperPi 1M Top List Opteron and Phenom are two different names for AMD processors. Opteron is generally more for server type machines.

| Re: Tech Forums Official SuperPi 1M Top List It's actually a common glitch, dunno what causes it. You have a Phenom x3 8400.
If I had to guess as to why it's like that I would assume it's because the Opteron 1384 was the original chip they killed a core on to make it an 8400...not entirely sure though.

| Re: Tech Forums Official SuperPi 1M Top List CPU-X gets it's info through the CPUID string. It's a Hex code in the cpu itself that says what it is, who makes it, and what it's default parameters are. It could be that cpu-z is misinterpreting the string or AMD used the same string for multiple cpus and cpu-z gets confused when it reads identical database entries. |

Barcelona = Agena, and Deneb = Shanghai.
The difference is the socket; and some of the Opteron's have more Hypertransport lanes active to connect to other CPU's in multi-socket systems.

| Re: Tech Forums Official SuperPi 1M Top List That makes sense now, you would have thought they would change the cpuid string though, or is that in the die?
