PCIe 2.0 spec to speed coprocessors

So does this mean the motherboard's we're working with right now, will be able to run PCI-e 2.0? Or is it like, a new PCI-e slot? Confused.

It's a new PCIe slot, that will be released along with the future motherboard chipsets, such as the X38 and RD700 series. PCIe 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCIe 1.1 graphic cards.

When are we expecting this out now? Roughly what is the present highest GB/s output of graphics cards on the PCIe market? I presume it's 4GB/s and that's why they want to increase it.
