Default My overclock part 2

just wanting to know some safe temperatures for my cpu. its a q6600 g0

idle is about 40 degrees C
gaming its about 45-50 degrees C
and under extreme stress (prime95) its 59-60 degrees C

i am still using the stock cooler so i know there a little high but are they safe
i plan to buy an aftermarket cooler asap i just want to know if its safe for now

60 is also to the point where i might start getting worried, 40C idle seems about normal for a quad.

60 is just fine. The thermal rating on the g0 stepping is higher than B3.

Spec'd at 71c

Ya, even with my TRUE i push 60C on my g0 q6600, but thats at 3.6ghz. So yes, you are fine for now, but if you plan to go farther you'll need better cooling.

with the intel thermal rating I'd be perfectly comfortable running a G0 quad at 70c 24/7

Why not? When intel states you can run them at 71c no problem?

I guarantee that it wont be as stable as one at 40C

And I guarantee that if its at 70C you won't be able to overclock it as far.

At 72C it starts to throttle itself. Also if you are running at 70C 24/7 the lifespan of the cpu is going to go right down the toilet, not to mention its gonna get nice and warm in that room.

ehh? not true at all. Tcase rating is not even close to when it begins to throttle. BTW I have had all my processors running 24/7 folding...both cores 100%.
