Default I've Hit a Wall

Hi

I wanna overclock my PD to the magic 4.0 Ghz, but i seem to have hit a wall

At first, i oc'd my system to 225Mhz FSB (17x multiplier) and increased the CPU voltage to 1.31 from 1.26 and downclocked my ram to 400Mhz to avoid it interfering, but i still cant get past 225Mhz FSB (200 normal, im running it on 217Mhz). I dont see what the problem can be now, since i increased the CPU voltage substantially, and took the ram out of the equation...

Does anyone know what could be wrong? Or anything i am doing wrong?

In all likelihood, you've either hit a wall with your motherboard, your cpu, or may be having temperature issues.

Also, simply raising the voltage wont get you a stable overclock, you really need to factor in all the parts as a whole.

You really need to increase your chipset voltages. But since you cant do that, youre pretty much stuck at where you are now.

i see....i'll just wait for my P5N-D then try it on that....if that fails, then in all likelihood it is my CPU, and i will just try it again with my Q9450 when i get it....

I just thought it would be fun to see that old netburst get to the big 4.0, but you know.....

Thanks anyways
