Default intel x3220 qc xeon

Any heard of people overclocking this chip? I've been looking can't really get a good answer.

I'm putting this chip into my new pc and just wonder if it's possible or if the chip is locked, etc.. danka

u can overclock it by raising the FSB, that is known as the Q6600 around here, and many people have it

Yes it's locked, because only Extreme editions have unlocked multipliers. Like the QX9770 for example.

being a xeon, it would also be of slightly better yield quality as opposed to a C2D, so u may have more luck oc'ing it, but you never know, xeons never were made to be oc'd by much...

they will oc just about the same.
