| Intel held a small press-only pre-IDF meeting and showed off the quad core Kentsfield processor. PCPerspective has info on quad core gaming, applications and typical power consumption. In Intel's demonstration, they used a couple runs of Sysmark 2004 SE to simulate a typical "work day" and came up with some arithmetic to show this. This cost per year amount is based on typical sleep times, idle times and work loads, but of course this will vary from user to user http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=301

| The throughput limitations will be the ultimate demise of this particular core. Intel is silly, they develop so many highly capable processor designs and then purposely avoid trying to yield the untapped potential of those cores
