actually, the benchmarks show it about on par with OCZ. don't know about G.Skill though, that is some really overclockable RAM

about the psu. ive ready many reviews and i havent seen any problems with them.

also yes the ram i have is cheapo ram. came with a dell

about my mobo ill be getting a dfi lanparty. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...factory=BROWSE

about the cpu. i picked out the winchester core because i heard good things about overclocking them. also i picked out the case because of the awsome air flow.

I was already planning on getting some artic silver 5.

about the ram heatsinks, i had been looking at these before. do you think these would do well: http://xoxide.com/ramsink.html

if you know of any better heatsinks please tell me i dont want to be kicking myself later.

btw thanx for all of your guys help so far.

alluminium is not really great for cooling, try and find some copper ones
although with the RAM you're using, it's not going to make much difference

To repeat what I said grab some copper ramsinks for your ram.

These would keep your RAM really cool.

heatspreaders dont really do much. so you really shouldnt worry about cooling for you ram. as long as you have good airflow for your case then that should be fine. i would suggest an antec PSU, typically a true power and OCZ or G.skill ram pc3200. and w/ that id say you can hit 2.6.

I would also agree with around about 2.6ghz with good ram.

For the heatspreaders, I think they are more for looks than usefulness.

exactly, unless your running a system that has an FX-55 oc'd to 3.9 and have watercooled heat spreaders on there lol.

you'll need good ram

that is at least $160 if you want an ok overclock (corsair xms?)

at least $220 if you want a decent overclock (anything labeled "samsung tccd" on newegg)

and pc2100 is ram from what, 2 years ago? they're outdated already and are very slow and if OC them they probably won't even be as fast as my cheap value ram

You two are talking about heat spreaders. I was talking specifically about ramsinks. Those are not the same as heatspreaders. Copper ramsinks actually help a lot with cooling, so realize I'm talking about those and not regular heat spreaders.

well even if you put tweak monster heatsinks on it it wont make much of a diff unless your pushing the crap out of the ram.
