Which HD company?

I need help picking which HD, and i need to know which company to go with

It depends on what kind of drive you're getting. If you want a 10000 RPM, definitely get the Western Digital Raptor. Otherwise, the Seagate Barracuda w/ NCQ is the best 7200 option for sheer speed and low noise.

10000rpm is a bit expensive for me im looking at the 7200rpm with 8 mb cache

around 80 gigs or 120 if their cheap which they are

Seagate Barracuda SATA 120GB - $83.

The 80GB one is $62.

WDs are really good for their raptors. Their 7200 drives are good also, but the Seagates are more quiet and faster. They also have NCQ which speeds up requests, a feature that the WD lacks.

or this, i jsuit put this here cause soemone said it was quite, but really i dont care about noice, cause anything quiter then the system i have right now, the PSU RUNS NON STOP AND ITS SO LOUD. ITS LIKE A HAIR DRYER MUFFLED THROUGHT THE CASE

That might be why most people buy the raptors.

I'm guessing that NCQ on a 10000 must be much more difficult to do, probably raising the price and raising the speeds.

It should, that drive is a SATA and your board has SATA ports. That drive is OEM, so make sure you have a SATA cable.

I would wait for another opinion. Perhaps someone can argue for the other drives.
