Unhappy Graphics freezing problem.

Hello, I bought an Asus GeForce3 from my friend awhile back, and it was working fine up until this summer. It started to randomly freeze for 10-30 secs in any 3d application that was run in 32-bit color. At first I thought it was just overheating from the overclock that I had on it, but even after I declocked it and put on some stable WHQL drivers, it still locked up randomly. It was only a minor annoyance until newer games came out that only ran in 32-bit color (Aquanox 2, Halo, etc). I would just buy a nice new DX9 card, but I won't be out of university for another 9 months, and don't have the cash till then. Any suggestions to provide even a little rememdy would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Here are my system specs if they would be useful:

P4 1.8B
ECS P4VXASD2+ v5.0 motherboard
Asus V8200 GeForce3
768MB PC2700 DDR
25GB Maxtor HDD
60GB Maxtor HDD
24x12x32x Lite-On CD-RW

Thanks,
Blaine
