Question Critical Error

The other day I raised the performance on my graphics card by moving the slider on the advance button toward performance and away from quality and i notaced a very extreme good diference in the graphics quality on the game halo i could put all the graphics to best on the game but after about thirty mins. the computer had a "windows has just recovered from a critical error" screen and I was just wondering if this could be related to that and would it be dumb to put it back to the place that the screen come up or should i leave it on the lower performance setting? the graphics card I have is a RADEON X300 SE 128MB HyperMemory.
