To all the questions:

1) yes I can play media files on my hard drive

This is what happens when I try to watch a streaming file off of any internet site:

2) I don't know why the **** the updates will not work off of microsoft update.

This is the error I get when I try to update on the web:

3) I am running SpyBot S&S (latest) and McAfee Viruscan Enterprise whatever (this is the program my college's IT department has us use)

4) What the **** is a HiJackThis log?

I'm about to go read the tutorial so hopefully that will explain things better.

I usually keep my computer running well and have never had problems until as of late.... all of this is very strange.
