Last I checked, monitors have been high resolution since before HDTV was even an abbreviation.

Follow-up: Yup, 2048x1536 is a lot higher than "1080p."

Or are they planning on sending encrypted signals to our monitors so we can't <gasp> record the content? If so, they can stuff their HD-DVD/Blu-ray nonsense.
