I suppose "replacement" isn't the right word. Perhaps "alternative" works better.

I could argue that home theatre systems can be contained in a box. Bose has been selling all-in-one theatre systems for years. Actually, the HiFi is very closely related to Bose's wave radio designs, but alot more efficient and practical.

To compare the iPod HiFi to cheap iPod speaker systems isn't really fair.
The products really aren't in the same class.
Apple's biggest competitor in this market is Bose since they have almost identical products. If Apple can pull off some clever advertising for the HiFi, then they may be successful in taking sales from Bose.
