Default stopping and starting dns

I have just set up dns using yast in suse 9.2. it seems it uses named and rndc. I would like to be able to stop and start the dns via ssh and so need to be able to control it via the command line.

$rndc -V stop

seems to stop the service fine, but does anyone know how to start the service again???

also i dont see any cache of resolved names, any ideas where this is held? or is it all held in memory? can i not write out to a file to load it up next time?

thanks
