I have never used Linux before, but would like to try it out, as a small server. So I can dial (or use VPN which depending on my location) in from any where and get files, ie connect using a web page, ftp, or similar

The PC is one I just had sitting around, doing sweet nothing.
AMD KII-350MHz 192 Mb Memory, 4 Gb Hard drive.

I have tried search for a suitable version at http://distrowatch.com/

Most versions I have tried seam to work quite good on it, but I can't seem to find a nice small fast version that can be a server, I don't need all the extra programs that you normally get. Just need simple stuff and a GUI would be very nice.
