You not only have to have fast hardware, but you have to have a fast connection. Also, what most people overlook, is that they must have cables capable of carrying such high speeds. Doesn't sound like it would be a problem, but if you got the wrong kind of cable hooked up, you'll notice huge bottlenecks.

Lastly, if your ISP is only transmitting signals at a certain speed, it doesn't matter how fast your hardware is, the connection won't get any faster. Remember, network devices are not like vacuums, sucking up available stuff. They're pipelines. The greater the speed/bandwidth, just means they can handle more incoming stuff.
