If certain applications are working, and internet browsing is not, to me it sounds like a DNS issue. This is the service provided by your ISP to "lookup" internet addresses (ie you may find it referred to as a lookup service) on your behalf, hence the need for an ISP. It sounds independent from the whole network thing, and probably on your machine. If the IP addresses are automatically configured, check this in your wireless network options under the TCP/IP configuration. If it is manually assigned, confirm that the IPs are correct.
