Default Problems installing XP - NTLDR

Hello.

I went and uninstalled SP2 as some programmes were not working as good since I had it installed. After SP2 was uninstalled I get a crash and ‘NTLDR not found’ as I try and boot.

Tried ‘fixboot’ & ‘fixmbr’ but no joy, so I have just gone for a format and a clean install.

Problem is when I try and format the disc as NTFS the process crashes half way through the format, even in quick format. I did get a BSOD with –

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Cdfs.sys – Address F86BB00B base at F86B6000, date stamp 3b7de20e

So I tried it as FAT32 and it went through the process okay and loaded in XP, but whenever I try and install a driver or a program it crashes !!

I had tried both XP Home and Pro, both had the same problem and both are legitimate copies.

So I just went and formatted again but this time loaded in my old Windows ME disc, and everything works fine.

Anyone got any ideas why this would be.

Any help would be much appreciated
Copper.
