Is that really the case anymore (at least with Warhead)? Its been a while since I checked but I could swear ATI driver updates made it run pretty good on ATI cards. I know I was able to raise settings a good bit when I went from a 8800gt 512mb to a 4870 512mb.
Edit: Comparing the 4850 to a gts250 they seem to be about equal
ATI Radeon HD 4770 review 4850 512mb is really close to gts 250 1gb at 1600x1200.
