Default Re: xp pro good enough for newer Microsoft products?

I have a duo core and 4G, so I hope the 4G will be adequate for my records and software work. I hope 64 bit will help too.

I still wish microsoft offered an option of small and efficient. The only reason I'm not going with XP pro is like the others here mentioned, it is easily hacked and the newer versions of microsoft programs might not work on it, and I definitely want to get stuff like microsoft's latest asp.net and maybe even visual studio. Also I have vista business on a duo core 2G, and it looks okay, although we only use that computer for internet.

I'm intrigued that 7 is getting good press and yet is still such a massive operating system. I'm not surprised that vista being such a huge piece of code had so many teething difficulties. I'm happy 7 seems to be fast and efficient now, but I'm amazed they did it when the code is still so huge, and based on the original beast.

So far I'm planning to make a 40G partition for the op system on a 250G disk. I found that has been mentioned many times as a good standard vista partition on the internet, but who knows?
