Get the beta! Intrepid is a ton better than Hardy, I was expecting just your average incremental update, but 8.10 has a lot of new stuff well worth upgrading to. First, it has DKMS with the new kernel, useful for installing video drivers (INCLUDING FGLRX! Finally ATi users aren't left in the dark because the fglrx driver won't work, in 8.10 it works great). It has a few new Compiz effects, a new theme and background, and some new menus.
