Sure, I agree But, then again, someone once said that there would never be a need to have a computer for personal use within a home LOL

I can think of some interesting ideas that, although wouldn't require a "2nd network", but would be fun to experiment with. VLANS, truncating and proper propagating methods for, let's say:
1) Internet use
2) A security system/video security
3) one for household appliances (like a futuristic Fridge/Freezer to control temperatures within the appliance LOL)
4) one for the home's VoIP
5) Perhaps one for a unsecure Wi-Fi setup

Interesting ideas I think ... for the Geek, of course
