Default Re: Copying DVD's...legal?

ok....let me see if I can help

simple answer to your question...you cannot legally copy a commercial DVD which is encrypted.

You can copy a commercial dvd, if you do not try to circumvent it's protection scheme...but chances are you won't be able to copy or play it, lol.

I used to be a proponent of "if they say we can't, then we shouldn't". But I have a ton of legally purchased DVDs, I expect to be able to view and use them for my OWN personal use, how I feel.

Now that is a far cry from many here and everywhere else, who think they can do what they will, how they will, and not just for their own personal use. Ie., copy and mass distribute and/or profit.

So, what you believe is what you believe, not neccessarily what you do . So long as we are talking about perceptions, ideals and opinions, it is wholely acceptable and not against "any rules" at least I think.

Recap....it is not legal for us to copy commercial dvds, which we own, that have copy protection. Even if it is for our own private use.
